I don't know if this helps any, Dave, but I found a pretty good sermon on the subject: http://www.americanchurchparis.org/sermons/11april.htm I'll keep my eyes/ears open for an actual Bible verse or quote, though! Peace, --Cheryl |

Ephesians Chapter 3 will also provide "insight" to how faith is increased. You will see that threw the journey of ones life faith is increased threw the tribulation, trials of life. The people who have faith know that the truth that Jesus spoke and good deeds that he did, was all the "Proof" they needed when Jesus walked the Earth. Sense we take the journey in life to learn, we also earn. |

Some ways the Bible tells us to increase our faith: 1) Ask of God and he will give you more faith. Mark 9:17-24 is a good example. So number 2 2) Faith can be increased by seeing miracles done. Acts 2 is another good example. 3) Faith increases when it is tried in the furnace of affliction I Peter 1:7. Job 23:10, Dan. 12:10 and Rev. 3:18 hints of this as well. A word of warning here though LOL. If one ask Gods for faith (number 1 above) God may just increase your faith by allowing trials and tribulations to fall upon you in answer to your prayer. 4) Then there's James 2:22 which shows that faith is made perfect through works. As in the case of Abraham. His faith in the coming Messiah was increased when he tried to obey God's command to sacrifice his son for a burnt offering. Now I'm not saying we should try to sacrifice our children to follow Abraham's example LOL. We are under the New Covenant of grace not the Old Covenant of the Mosaic Laws. But if the Bible (especially the New Testament) tells us to do something, we should do it (and our faith will increase because of our obedience). 5) And finally, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Rom. 10:17 Since we are saved by grace THROUGH faith, surely every avenue that is opened to us to increase our faith should be explored? |

Saved by grace? I would be careful about assuming that one is saved by grace. The ones in the Bible who might be saved by grace are addressed very specifically. Seems to me one reaches a level of understanding threw experiance were grace can be bestowed. But it (grace) does not seem to be an across the board granting, until one is found worthy. I could be wrong. If so show me the verse in the Bible. |

Dear aften1, You state,"Saved by grace? I would be careful about assuming that one is saved by grace." How about Eph. 2:8-9, and Titus 3:5? Grace by its' definition is something we have not earned! Further, Romans 5:8 says," But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Providing a scriptural basis for your statements would be appropriate:-) I hope this helps, BradK |

Show me the verse Bradk where "YOU" are saved by grace? Romans 5:8 was written by Paul for the people of that day and life. Christ might have died for them, but not for you. Consider - all of the planets inhabited in the "UNIVERSE". If Christ were to die on each planet (a horrible death) who would want the job? You must stand on the truth and example of Christ as a brother, not a child. That is what Christ seeks from man and woman kind - brotherhood. We as a people today are ready. At the time Jesus walked the Earth there was no airplane. Today many people of the world may travel on one. Do you think the Son of God would choose a camel instead? If so - show me the verse where you are saved by grace. The reason you can not is because it is not so. You must do good works in order to achive grace. There is no free lunch. The reason Jesus had and has so much grace is because he does good things all the time. So can you. So can I. One day at a time. |
