1 | Actual bodies in heaven? | 1 John 3:2 | bill0624 | 213993
Here is a good and fun challenge, Val. Find one place in the Bible, just one, where it says that a believer goes straight to heaven when he/she dies. This reference must say "to heaven." If this is the true teaching of scripture, then the Bible should have a number of references that say that "we go to heaven" when we die. Can you find any?

Greetings friend, I would “assume” that you believe in what is referred to as the Trinity? “Here is a good and fun challenge,” Find one place in the Bible, just one, where it says the word Trinity. This reference must say Trinity; if this is the true teaching of scripture then the Bible should have a number of references that say Trinity. Can you find any? I hope you realize that I am being facetious! That being the case: 2 Cor. 5:5-8 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. 6Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Where is the Lord Jesus Christ at this present time? I hope you say heaven? In 2 Cor. 5:8 The words “present with” the Lord in the original Greek of the New Testament is, “PROS ENDEMESAI” which is in the accusative case, which is causative, and could be translated, face to face with the Lord. Now since Jesus is in heaven where would it place the one who is face to face with Him? This is what is known as pedagogy by deductive reasoning. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Psalm 119:160 The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. Have a great day, CDBJ |

You're right, CDBJ, what we have in Christianity is a whole bunch of divisive doctrines that aren't directly taught in the scriptures - trinity, rapture, transubstantiantion, 7 Point Calvinism, Romans Road, 4 Spiritual Laws, original sin, the fall, etc. We form these doctrines and then try to find proof-texts to shore our man-made doctrines up with. We would do well to get back to what the scriptures actually say and mean than to be continually trying to perpetuate things that Jesus himself never taught.

Greetings, Very well taken but I believe we should take these “one” at a time if we are to concentrate on truth. Let’s, if we may, focus on the Lord’s location for starters just using scripture to solidify the correct answer. I would like to suggest the following with regards to direction which is opposite of gravity, as it were. Acts 7:55-56 But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; 56and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." It wasn’t so distant that Steven couldn’t see and recognize Jesus but it was up. 2 Cor. 12:2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago-- whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows-- such a man was caught up to the third heaven. 2 Cor. 12:4 was caught up into Paradise, and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak. 1 Thes. 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Rev. 3:12 'He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name. Rev. 12:5 And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne. Rev. 12:12 "For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time." Rev. 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. These are a few off of the top of my head that point to the fact that heaven is actually “up” CDBJ |

So where it is? Is it "up" from North America? Or is it "up" from South America? Is it "up" from the North Pole? Or is it "up" from the South Pole? If it is "up" from Israel, pointing to the constellation of Orion, then 12 hours later when Israel's "up" points to Andromeda, is heaven still in Orion? Or does it rotate circumorbital with Israel? Yes, these are serious questions. Where, exactly, is "up"? |

Greetings, I am in a position to learn something from scripture that I didn’t know or hadn’t considered. If my memory serves me right you are the one that refuted the scriptures that were posted. So please state your scriptural evidence with chapter and verse that proves that what was posted is in error; it is a Bible study not a theological inference group. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
