1 | Is reverence feasible? Always? | Eph 5:33 | Mommapbs | 66230 | ||
rabbi mark - Greetings in Jesus Name. No where in my postings am I suggesting the New Age or nirvana concept that believers are "becoming one with God." There are those who share my interest in pursuing an intimate relationship with God that is through the Spirit; it does not do away with the law, but it is apart from the requirements of the Law. (References Romans 7:4-6 and Hebrews 10:20) It is my opinion that one who adopts an attitude of "performance Christianity" will truly miss what God intends for us to experience here and now, namely a relationship with Him that grows as we come to know Him more. Throughout God's Word, we are told to seek the Lord with our whole heart; to seek His face . . . As an illustration, I am copying an essay I wrote a while ago called "The Dance Partner." My husband is an accomplished dancer; in fact, he even won some competitions in his youth. Unfortunately for him, I have two left feet. It is always a challenge for him to make me “look good” on the dance floor. Yet, many failed dance lessons later, he hasn’t given up and he still loves to dance – with me! God is our ultimate Dance Partner. He never tires of teaching and I think He even delights when we step on His feet; for we can only step on Him when we are close! He loves to hold us next to His heart; in this way we can learn the beat, to step in time with Him. Like a daddy with his little girl, our Heavenly Father longs for us to place our feet upon His and let Him lead us across the floor of life. Yet all too often, we choose to flee from His embrace and invent a dance of our own. These attempts often yield many encounters with the floor rather than our Dance Partner. Patiently He waits for us; His dance card has our names on it . . . whose name is on yours? Do you hear the music? The Lord of the Dance is beckoning; can you see Him whirl you across the floor of time and space, holding you confidently in His arms? In time the music will cease and the lights will dim . . . the Lord will take your dancing shoes . . . for the dance is "well done!" Lord, thank you for the dance. As you lead me, I will follow . . . “You have turned my wailing into dancing and my sackcloth into clothes of joy." Psalm 30:11 The way that God draws me to Himself is very different from the way that you have come to know Him. Suffice it to say rabbi mark, we may share the same Dance Partner, but we are dancing to different tunes. According to Mt 15:13 we can take confidence in this: "Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted." You may disagree with me, but please stop accusing me to the brethern. Your posts have offended and wounded me. If I have sinned, have you responded as God commands in Mt 18:15? If you struggled with my original post, why did you take out your disagreement to my post with another member of this Forum? Since you claim to study and know the Scriptures, it seems odd to me that you would have overlooked this principle of Godly conduct for the body of believers. If God has given you the spiritual gift of teaching, I will honor His gift, and I will honor you as one for whom Christ died, but you have not earned my admiration. mommapbs PS: I strongly recommend: "The Sacred Romance" and "The Journey of Desire" by JOHN Eldredge. |

mommapbs: Do you remember the first post that I answered? It was another member of the Forum leaving you a note telling you about your maturity. I challenged that maturity based on what I had read in your note. I had scriptural evidence that contradicted what you had said. And I reproved you. In your biography you welcome anyone to do this. Anyway, after reading this post I can certainly state that you have matured greatly since that first post. I wrote what I did to challenge you to think about what you say. Because we shall be judged for every idle word. When giving advice from the Bible, it is important for me to be 100 percent accurate in what I say, and to be certain that what I say is in context with the rest of scripture. Perhaps I wounded you. But I did so for your edification. See my answer to cyclist. Anway, I'm very glad that you wrote this post back to me. And if I could have come to you privately concerning these matters then I would have. I derived no joy from expressing these views in the open forum. Perhaps I have not earned your admiration mommapbs ... but you have earned mine. Sincerely, Rabbi Mark |
