1 | Woman's sin worse than man's? | Eph 5:33 | beensetfree | 65743
At the risk of jumping into a frenzy, please allow me to toss in 2 cents worth. I disagree with Rabbi Mark where he says, “It is reasonable to believe that if Adam had been present, his part in this whole thing would have been recorded.” I do believe everything was recorded. Look at the Genesis 3 passage as one would look at a negative of a picture. The empty space speaks volumes. Adam did not take the leadership position given to him by God, one of being head and protector of his wife. By his silence, he left his wife open to temptation. By not speaking up and reiterating God’s “law” or “rule” of not eating from the tree, he dropped the proverbial ball of leadership right at the serpent’s feet (or lack thereof). Rabbi Mark says, “I don't believe God would have left out something that important.” Here I do agree, God would not have left something important out of His word. And He didn’t. God recorded Adam’s silence, which rings like a gong! And I don’t think this would be considered “reading between the lines” either. May God grant His wisdom to us all as we study His word and seek to determine His principal and truth contained within. Ever praying, Beensetfree
2 | Woman's sin worse than man's? | Eph 5:33 | Rabbi Mark | 66112
Dear Beensetfree: Let me see if I am following your logic here. What you seem to be saying is where ever we find silence on a subject in the Bible we are free to infer anything we want. Is that correct? If not, then how can the silence we find here ring like a gong and speak volumes? I'm sort of at a loss to combat this kind of logic. Rabbi Mark |
