1 | Women speak in church? | 1 Cor 14:34 | souljourners | 178451
In the scripture it clearly states let your women keep silent. This is being addressed to the men in Corinth and Ephesis at that time and place. But before this verse the bible is talking about prophecying, correct? But we all know that Deborah was a Judge and Prophetess: Huldah was a Prophetess, and in Joel 2:28 it clearly states the sons and daughters should prophesy. On the day of Pentecost women spoke in tongues Acts 2:4, the daughters of Phillip prophesied Acts 21:9, and in 1 Corinthians 11:5 Paul gives directions of women prophesying. As I said the Spirit of God gives us the ability to be open-minded as well as open-hearted. This scripture is taken out of context so often. You have to research and find out what was going on in Corinth and Ephesus at the time Paul wrote this scripture. This was the order of that church at that time. Example: In the Old Testament it says an eye for an eye, but in the New testament it say turn the other cheek. Which will you do? Both are in the word of God. But that was the order of the church at that time during those situations. Today we have different situations in the church where God is using women to preach, teach and speak publicly. What is the big issue if God uses a woman to get His word across? All through the bible it reads where God has used woman for His work. Look at Abigail who was married to a foolish man, Nabel. She had to make his wrongs right. God used her. Look at the woman at the well. Jesus gave her permission to go and tell the Samaritans about Him. This scripture 1Corinthians 14:35 applies to the circumstances that were surrounding the church in Corinth at the time wrote the letter. This is not a direct commandment from God.
2 | Women speak in church? | 1 Cor 14:34 | BradK | 178457
Dear souljourners, I don't think there is any argument that God has used Women in His master plan. Scripture is abundant with examples such as the one's you provided. In fact, He still uses them today! Where I think we need to define the issue and draw a line is in distinguishing between women being used of God and their proper role(s) in the Body of Christ in a (local)church. Again 1 Tim. 2:12 states: "But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet." The roles and functions of bishops and deacons are outlined clearly in 1 Tim. 3 and Titus 1. I see Paul laying the groundwork in 1 Tim. 2 as to how gender fits into this. The offices described are all in the masculine. I think this was Divinely ordered through the inspiration of the Word! So, does God use women in His work? Yes, without doubt. Is their role to be that of a teaching Pastor in authority over a congregation. I doubt it. Vertical alignment is God-ordained. I further believe, that much of this debate over the role of women in the church has stemmed from the 20th and 21st Century "Womens Right" movement that is trying to equalize the sexes. Our Culture should not drive the interpretation of God's Word. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

3 | Women speak in church? | 1 Cor 14:34 | souljourners | 178459
Paul wrote the book of Corinthians as he established churches and order the way it was aligned at that time. he said he does not allow, nowhere does it say that God commanded this. Truly I know that the husband has authority over the wife, but if the head of the church (local) which is the Pastor reccommends that a woman speak then I do believe that it is Gods will. God has even used a donkey so why not a woman. I speak in the church, but I have respect for the men over me and I do not make my address in the pulpit, but at the podium and God blesses me. But if there comes a time for me to be in the pulpit I know God will lead in that direction. Women's rights have nothing to do with the will of God. Look again at Deborah, she was in authority of men and women and she was chosen by God. So was Queen Esther. She had favor with God. Through her authority a whole nation of Jews was saved. it wasn't a man who God used but a woman. This happened over 2 thousand years ago not in the 21st century. The difference in the scriptures is who wrote it and who was that person speaking to and why.God bless

Hello Souljourners, The Bible has authority over the pastor. If he says something is OK to do, but Scripture says it's wrong, then it's wrong. Steve |

5 | Joyce Meyer a woman who won'tbe quiet | 1 Cor 14:34 | souljourners | 178474
Let me ask you a question since you have such a closed mind about woman professing the word of God. Have you ever heard Joyce Meyer speak? Do you believe she is annointed by God and speaks the truth? Do you believe she is called by God to Co-pastor with her husband Dave in their Ministry? or is she living in sin for preaching to the world in which God has made provisions for her to do so?
6 | Joyce Meyer a woman who won'tbe quiet | 1 Cor 14:34 | mark d seyler | 178477
I would like to repeat my comment about simply saying someone has a closed mind because they disagree with you. We are here to discuss the Bible, yes, but we have a greater purspose, and that is to build up the body of Christ. If you find that Joyce Meyer's teaching conforms to the Bible, that she leads you into a closer walk with God, and your conscience is clear before God in all of this, that is between you and your Lord. But we are a Bible Study Forum, not a Joyce Meyers Study Forum. I think that you have stated your views very plainly, and that others have stated their views plainly, and that these posts have pretty much covered both sides of the question. Personally, I don't see that there has been anything said substantially different than what has been said several times before. But the Lord will both lead His own, and judge His own. God bless you! Love in Christ, Mark |

7 | Joyce Meyer a woman who won'tbe quiet | 1 Cor 14:34 | souljourners | 178480
I SIMPLY ASKED YOU IF YOU BELIEVE GOD HAS CALLED JOYCE MEYER A WOMAN TO PREACH ALL OVER THE WORLD OR IS SHE SINNING TO DO SO? THAT IS A DIRECT REFERENCE TO THE SCRIPTURE "LET YOUR WOMEN KEEP SILENT." YOU TOTALLY AVOIDED THE QUESTION BECAUSE IT HAS MERIT TO IT. GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP AN OPEN MIND OF THE THINGS OF CHRIST. |

I am not entering this discussion to be "for or against" a person, or to take sides in what is becoming argumentative. I avoided the question because this does not edify. Love in Christ, mark |

I do not argue the gospel, I am just asking that you have an open mind to the things of Christ. . Why can't you just admit that my statement has merit to it? No argument involved. I am humble in Jesus name. I also know I have a relationship and a fellowship with God and that I am chosen by God to preach His word and I have the hearts desire to do so and he said that he would give us our hearts desire. I also know that conviction brings about correction. Peace unto you. In all your getting get an understanding In Jesus' Name.
