1 | Hank, all I need is just one quote. | John 3:5 | arrow1 | 113397
Sorry Hank if I offended anyone by saying g**h. If we are saved by "faith alone'" is it safe to say repentence is not necessary. I noticed in Ephesians 2:8 repentance is not there, oh well, the phrase faith alone isn't there either. Sorry, that may have been a little harsh. Anyhow, back to my question, surely there was just one person during the first 400 years that said the sinners prayer. Please if I could have that one quote.

Thanks for the scripture Hank, but it doesn't say we are saved by faith. We are in Romans 5:1,2 JUSTIFIED by faith and have access to God because we believe, but it doesn't say we are saved Justified is from the greek word dikaioo which means 1) to render righteous or such he ought to be 2) to show, exhibit, evince, one to be righteous, such as he is and wishes himself to be considered 3) to declare, pronounce, one to be just, righteous, or such as he ought to be Webster says this Justify-to judge, regard, or treat as righteous and worthy of salvation. So by having faith we are in essence WORTHY of salvation, but not saved. And as far as the other scriptures, that does not prove that you are saved by faith. Because Jesus also said that Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. I believe that you can't be saved by someone you don't believe in, but we are not saved by faith alone...READ James 2:19 The devils believe. Are they saved? Without faith it is impossible to please him Hebrews 11:6, I am asking for scripture backing up the FAITH ALONE statement. There isn't one. While yes you have to have faith to be saved that is not the ONLY thing we are saved by. Furthermore, I haven't completed my study on this, but I believe faith and BELIEF are DIFFERENT. Everyone here BELIEVES God heals, but it seems to me that NO ONE on this forum has FAITH that HEALING IS GUARENTEED. |

The only difference between the words "faith" and "believe" is that "faith" is a noun and "believe" is a verb. To imagine that faith ("belief or trust") and believe ("have religious faith") have different meanings is to err. |

Faith is seeing through the circumstance. Faith is blind trust. Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. CEV says 1Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see. My mother can believe that I have potential. And she can tell me I have potential. But she doesnt have faith in me until she steps out in faith and says I have complete faith in you that you are becomming the best person you can be for God. It is a blind un altered trust. Belief can be swayed. Moses believed God would deliver them from the sea and pharoh, but it was his faith that made him stand up and stretch his rod over the water. To be honest with you IT DOESN'T matter, The only thing that matters is that you provided no scripture that says we are saved by fait ALONE. It is just not there. Even though it is in alot of Christian songs, we are not saved by faith alone. |

False Additions to Faith "VI. THE CONDITION FOR SALVATION "A. The Condition. Salvation is conditioned solely on faith in Jesus Christ. Nearly 200 times faith, or belief, is stated as the single condition in the N.T. (John 1:12; Acts 16:31). That faith must be placed in Christ as one's substitute for and Saviour from sin. (...) "B. The False Additions to Faith. Through the ages other requirements in addition to faith have been wrongly added." One of these is: (...) "2. Baptism. Baptism is the visible testimony to one's salvation, but not a condition for it. Acts 2:38 should be translated, 'Repent and be baptized on the basis of the remission of sins.' Acts 22:16 teaches that baptism followed the arising, just as forgiveness followed the calling on the name of the Lord. The two parts of the verse should be kept distinct. Mark 16:16 is probably not a genuine part of Mark's Gospel" (p. 1950, Ryrie Study Bible, Moody Press, 1978). |
