Bible Note: Dalcent - we will have to agree to disagree, I believe my salvation is wholly a work of God. I also believe that God knew before the foundation of the world that I would place my faith in the finished work of Christ. How HE accomplished the new birth in me is a Divine mystery. I agree with Tim Moran - the baptism is spiritual and again, it is WHOLLY a work of God. Indeed as a man thinks in his heart, so is he Prov 23:7 - IF you believe that YOUR performance is required for God to save, then you have believed a lie. God has given us everything we need ."The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; . . .for in Him we live and move and exist . . .we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man, Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent," Acts 17:24-30. We must repent of what we have believed - what we have "thought" about the Divine Nature - for God has given us everything we need to live - namely Christ. By suggesting that something other than simple belief in HIS finished work (ie water baptism) we prove that we do not believe what GOD has plainly told us - that HE ALONE is the source of everything, including our salvation. Those who continue to advocate that water baptism is necessary for salvation are advocating a righteousness by works and deny the sufficiency of God. As you continue to believe this lie, you will contine to evaluate your life and those of others on "performance" rather than on God - for God created by fiat - meaning that He creates out of nothing. He spoke the world into existence and in the same way, He speaks or declares our righteousness, not based upon what WE have done or do, but upon what HE has DONE! BTW, the "sinners prayer " doesn't save either - but God does. Grace and peace to you, mommapbs |
