Why do you conclude that Luke 12:48 is referring to a non-Christian? --Joe! |

2 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | EdB | 64417
Joe I'm not comfortable with this paragraph, let me revise it. "I merely stated while salvation apart from the preaching of Jesus seems unlikely to me, the Bible does not offer conclusive doctrine that it can not happen. Therefore neither you nor I should attempt to say decisively that it in fact does not happen." It should read as "My intent in this discussion was to say while salvation apart from the preaching of Jesus conflicts with what the Bible teaches. The Bible does not offer conclusive doctrine that the preaching of Jesus can not happen in ways we are not aware of. Therefore neither you nor I should attempt to say decisively that the revelation of salvation through Jesus Christ in fact does not happen outside physical preaching by physical man." I hope that closed all gaps and holes of unorthodoxy you seem so willing to shove me through. :-) EdB |

3 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | Reformer Joe | 64421
I understand exactly what you are trying to say, Ed. I just disagree. I know that the gospel CAN be proclaimed (and in fact HAS been proclaimed in the past) without the agency of man. God in his sovereignty can do anything he pleases. However, I think that with the biblical model of the gospel being proclaimed solely by God, angels, or men, one cannot trust that there must be other ways that God has not mentioned. And that is where we will disagree. --Joe! |

4 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | EdB | 64425
Joe I can not and do not trust there are other ways. In fact I feel certain there are none. But I can not state it as fact. That is where you and I separate you are willing to call your position fact and I can not do that. EdB |
