1 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | EdB | 64042
Prayon Hades according to Jewish understanding was a holding place for both the sinner and the righteous. Luke 16:19 story of the rich man and Lazarus tells us about it. Hades was divided with a gulf or chasm one side being the hot dry place and the other Abraham's bosom or paradise. Jesus went to Hades (Abraham’s bosom or paradise) and preached the good news to those that died looking for a redeemer and led them to heaven Eph 4:8. So your right Jesus did go to Hades (paradise side) and then ascended into to heaven. However from reading what you say I think you think Jesus got the keys in Hades. The keys weren't there! God is in control. Look at Satan reporting to God in Job. Beside Satan does not go near Hades, there is nothing there he wants. God possessed the keys of death, hell and the grave and he gave them to his son Jesus. Believe me no one dies one minute sooner than when God allows. When our mission is complete God then takes us home but not before then. I hope this answers your question. If not let us know EdB |

2 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64300
Greetings Ed, "got the keys" is just a saying that I have heard many times. What it really means to me is that Jesus conquered death 1Cor 15:56-57. I think it comes from Matt 16:18 where it says "The gates of hell shall not prevail". prayon
3 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | EdB | 64304
Prayon Actually it is a quote of Rev 1:18 where Jesus says he has the keys of Death and Hades. There is a false teaching that Jesus went to Hades and wrestled with Satan for the Keys and won. There is also an equally false teaching that Jesus Hades and was tortured by Satan for 3 days and having endured that won the Keys. First Satan is not in Hades. Secondly Jesus' work was accomplished on the cross not in a wrestling match or endurance of torture at the hands of Satan. Jesus proclaimed in Matthew 28:18 ... "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth..." therefore He was given the keys or authority over death. However they came from God the Father who had control over them since the beginning. EdB |

Thanks, I didn't know of the quote. I agree there was no wrestling match. God has been in control of everything since the beginning of time. prayon
