Candy Lee – Have you ever considered the CONTEXT of those verses you quoted. They are always the same ones that others pass off for that erroneous concept of evening and night. For that matter, even many Jewish people “practice” the Sabbath in that manner. Lev 23:32 IS CONNECTED to verses 23-31. For THIS PARTICULAR SABBATH ONLY, it began the night before. That was because of a FAST. Do you know what day today is? It happens to be that ONE SABBATH of the year – that began at sunset last night. The Jews wouldn’t be able to eat anything. They had to fast for supper, lunch the next day, and supper the next night. (Jews didn’t usually eat breakfast) This is the Day of Atonement, the one-day of the year when the high priest would go into the Holy of Holies to offer a sacrifice for the sins of the people. (Yom Kippur) The Sabbaths that occurred in the seventh month were not six days on, one off. The first day of the month was Sabbath (Feast of Tabernacles) no matter what day it fell on. (Lev. 23:23) On the night of the ninth night of the seventh month, (verse 32) “It is A sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves (fast). From the evening of the NINTH day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.” FIVE days from THAT sabbath is another one that lasts for seven full days. Verse 33- “On the fifteenth day of the seventh month is the Feast of Tabernacles. So you see, Candy Lee THAT “concept about the Sabbath lasting from “Friday night to Saturday night is NOT FROM THE LORD. It is only and I mean only a tradition of man. Jesus confronted the Pharisees about changing the law of God into man’s traditions. Do you know how the Jews today “celebrate” Yom Kippur? According to the Old Testament they WERE SUPPOSE TO FAST from the time sun went down last night until it went down tonight. THEY, the Jews, CHANGED IT. They claim, as long as you fast some of the time it counts for a FULL FAST. As far as those other Scriptures, which you proposed. Taking the above information into account, you need to realize that a Sabbath to the Jews NEVER meant Saturday. It always meant a day rest – no matter what day that happened to be. Like this month of ours, the first day of this month fell on a Wed. That would be THE Sabbath. On the ninth another Sabbath would start. That is Thursday and Friday. On the 15th of the month another one would start. That would be the following Wed. By the way, Sabbath followers MUST work from sunrise to sunset six days a week. Look at all the examples painted in Scripture by Jesus, as proof. Tom P.S. Did you notice in that John reference that you offer as proof, that it really proves what I have just shared? It specifies, depending on your translation, that it was a "Special sabbath". Those special sabbath times are when there is less than six days of labor and one of rest. |

I stand firm on the scriptures I gave. The Feast Days which you speak of are special sabbaths that forshadow the work of Christ or celebrate Other special days that the Jews celebrated. The seventh day was hallowed thousands of years before there ever was a Jew. It happened on the seventh day of creation. So, you see it is a memorial to the week of creation in which God finished the work of creation and rested on the seventh day and hollowed it. As to my knowledge, there are seven days in a week. The first being Sunday which is named for the day of Sun worship. The seventh day being Saturday wich is named for saturn the planet or who was also worshiped as a god. God did not give the days names but numbers, see Gen. The seventh day in latin is sabbado. Or sabbath in english. Either way it falls on the seventh day of the week. Check out any calender. And to confirm this the Jews is all the different countries of the big earth would have had to all at the same time fall asleep and sleep through the seventh day without anyone telling them for the sabbath to have gotten off track. In the story of the crusifixion, Christ was removed from the cross as he was already dead, the other two had their legs broken. Why was this done? So that the bodies would not be left hanging on the sabbath. The two who put Christ in the tomb did so without preparing the body because the sabbath drew on. If the Jews who have been marking time since the days of Moses are still keeping the seventh day as is on the calender then I am in full agreement with them. God said remember the seventh day to keep it Holy, and that I will do because I love him and not the world. If you or others cannot see that this is as well as the other commandments are binding then I am afraid nothing I show you will enlighten you. The 4th commandment does not include the special sabbaths and feast days, It refers to the seventh day which comes to us each week as it was started at the time of creation and not at some other time. You see, there was great controversy in ancient times over not keeping the seventh day sabbath. Satan wants to turn our eyes from the law and expecially the one that points to the creator as the one true God. How would we know sin if not by the law, Paul asked the same question. Then do we make void the law? God forbib. Anyone who wants to justify the breaking of the law will be able to find a way in their own minds to justify what they want. This is refered to as having itching ears. There is no scripture in all the bible that says that any of Gods laws were done away with except the ones that were forfilled as told in the book of Daniel that He would cause an end to the sacrifice and oblation. At his death the sacrifice was of non effect yet the Jews continued to do them until as Christ told them of the destruction that was to soon come. When Jerusalem was destroyed by Rome, the sacrifice stopped. There will come a time very soon that this country will enforce Sunday observence. The 4th commandment does not say ant day will do, it says the seventh day. I understood it even as a child. It's so simple. Then why do people make it so hard? You do and believe what you have been taught. I have posted only what is in the bible. You are not tring to justify the breaking of Gods commandments to me. I know why they are being broken. The same reason they were broken in the days of the kings of Israel. I don't feel a need to defend Gods word because it can defent itself. So when you say that the seventh day is not the sabbath of the Lord our God you take away from his words not mine. I am but a simple sinner, but Gods word is for instruction in all truth. If He says to keep His commandments if I love Him then I believe it is but a good thing to do, easy because he loved me first, and gave Himself for me. I follow the voice of my good sheperd and another I will not follow. There are other bible truths that are also being distorted such as life after death and that dead sinners are now being punished. Spiritualism, people believing that they can talk to dead people or that their loved one are in heavenly bliss when they die. So you see it is not just the sabbath truth that is so hated, but other bible truths as well. I'll continue to debete this subject as long as you or others wish. If you find anything else you feel is of value on this subject I will gladly look it over. I thank you for your interest on this subject. Candy Lee | ||||||
