Bible Note: Candy Lee - My former post was written with tongue in cheek and is not to be taken as ridicule of you, your beliefs, and certainly not of your trust in God. But if I may, I'd like to caution you against the unwisdom of hastening to formulate interpretative schemes of biblical prophecy from bits and pieces of Scripture that may at first glance seem to fit one's preconceived forumla. Scriptural prophecy is a difficult and complex study upon which wise heads have pondered for many centuries and few have achieved anything approaching unanimity. The only prophets whose prohecy has proved to be one hundred per cent correct all the time were those messengers of God who could say with authority, "Thus saith the Lord," because they were supernaturally empowered by God to speak His inerrant truth. The rest of us have never been able to achieve even mediocrity in our attempts to be prophetic ourselves or to interpret prophecy flawlessly. We tread on dangerous ground when we try to read things into biblical prophecy that may or may not be there. We tread, speaking of angels, where they fear to tread. --Hank |
