Hi Taleb, Jesus had to be talking about an existing 1260-day Endtime Period Temple if the 1260 days are literal 24-hour days. The texts in Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14 do not describe the destruction of the Temple in AD 70 as does Luke 21. Jesus ends the great tribulation period of 1260 days by giving "The Sign of the Day" of His Epiphany, the Day of His Apocalyptic Presence. The Abomination in the Temple begins the 3 1/2 times or 1290 days, cut short to 1260 days. On the Unknown Lastday, one of the 3 1/2 days the two Prophets lie dead on a street in Jerusalem, Christ will raise up every believer, including 144,000 Jews, then the Two Prophets, then the Elect whom He will gather together above from earth to heaven. All believers rise up on the same day, although each group in its "own order." I Cor.15:23. Revelation requires a third temple that John measured for its worshipers; but the outer court of that temple and Jerusalem itself will still be "trodden under the feet of Gentiles for 42 months. Rev.11:1,2. Hebrews quotes Jeremiah regarding the New Covenant for Israel and Judah that must still be fulfilled and which also requires a Millennial Temple. The New Covenant to which saved Jews and Gentiles now belong does not forbid a special aspect of the New Covenant for ethnic Israel when Messiah comes to redeem them and restore their Kingdom during which all mankind will "know the Lord." Heb.8:8-13. I discuss this interpretation only with those who agree these verses should be taken literally as of the Millennial role of Israel at the head of all the nations for 1000 years until the "sheep and goat nations" are separated. Mel, are you a politician? :) I notice that you, like so many of my political friends, AVOIDED answering my question in regards to WHERE does it say anything about rebuilding any Temple. Rather, you took me around the barn. I have read the same material you are quoting. I have also read what historians have written. I prefer to believe what has been truthfully been declared about Matthew’s, Mark’s and Luke’s writings down through HIS-story - over what has been said they MUST have meant, because of a misinterpretation of Daniel’s prophecy. Apparently, you have never read an eyewitness account to the destruction of the last Jewish Temple. Josephus BACKS UP WHAT JESUS SAID PERFECTLY. If you find Josephus “dry”, perhaps you should try one, or all, of these commentaries - Matthew Henry (1721), Adam Clarke (1837) ( I love his math on the 1260 days, very inspiring), Albert Barnes, Henry Hammond (1659), or the Geneva Study Bible (1560). Thomas Newton’s “Dissertations on the Prophecies” (1754) should convince you to search out the real facts. Or, F.W. Farrar’s “The Early Days of Christianity” (1886), From a Jew’s point of view about Matthew 24 and Daniel in AD 70 being fulfilled, get a copy of Solomon Grayzel’s “History of the Jews”. Perhaps your local library has one or more or all of what I have given reference to. Until you have “at the very least” checked out one of the above, you really have nothing to say about the subject of what “takes place in the future” concerning "those 1260 days". Actually, my list of references are more numerous than you care to read about – but if after you have checked out what all of the above state and are still unconvinced, let me know. :) At one time, I TOO BELIEVED what you are saying, but soon discovered the huge holes in that erroneous concept. Then I dug into what others had to say and, lo and behold, those authors from days of old filled in those holes with truth. Consider this: If someone was handed a Bible without footnotes, and told to read it and explain it, and they KNEW history – they could not possibly conclude what you have tried to persuade as fact. It can ONLY be learned from another - NEVER ONLY BY SCRIPTURE! Be honest – with yourself, if not with me. HOW did YOU personally learn what you are stating? Was it merely from reading “plain Scripture”, or was it from a preacher, book, or “footnotes in your Bible”? The Scriptures themself declare “ALL SCRIPTURE is for divinely inspired, and useful in teaching, in reproof, in correcting faults, and in training in uprightness, so that the man of God will be adequate, and equipped for any good work.” Someone once told me he only uses Scripture to back up his arguments. He lied big time. Because what he USED to back up his arguments were “footnotes from a Darby Study Bible”. For sure THAT ISN”T SCRIPTURE. Blessings, Taleb |

Dear Taleb, I gave the same evidence that Jesus, Daniel, Paul and Revelation give to require the building of a third Temple. If the "abomination standing in the holy place" is not the Temple that exists during the 1260-day Endtime, then we should not discuss the issue because it leads to mutual recriminations and unhealthy feelings. I note you also avoided answering my question. I asked for reasons that Matt.24:14 has already been fulfilled. If the End here spoken of has occurred, as you claim, then what was the Sign of Christ's literal Presence after the greatest tribulation of all time? Regarding that Sign, Jesus said: "You will know the End and My coming is Near, even at the doors." I cannot dialogue with one who thinks Jesus personally came in glory as of AD 70. If you are a full Preterist, as you seem to be, then of course you believe Christ and the End have already come. If so, and respectfully, I have no personal desire to continue a dialogue. Mel |
