Physical healing debaters There is one thing to remember a physical healing while wonderful only lasts as long as the person healed lives. However spiritual healing lasts for eternity. Why so much debate over something temporal when we should be focused on things eternal? In truth I never really understood the great desire for healing in Christians, if you really believe when you died you go to be with the Lord what is the problem? Scripture assures us we will not die until God is finished with us and that all things work to the good of those that love the Lord and are called to His purpose. If we put our trust in God we should find peace in whatever state we find ourselves. We are inconvenienced by sickness therefore all sickness is bad, yet if all things work to our good is it possible some sickness is good as it is giving glory to God? Before you answer remember the story of the blind man and the disciples asking Jesus who sinned. His answer was this man was born blind to bring glory to God. Also read Exodus 4:11 The LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? God is SOVEREIGN and His WILL, will be done. We are called to praise and worship Him both in sickness and in health. Trusting that whatever state we find ourselves it is exactly what God desires for us. Remember one last point everyone dies of something. EdB |

EdB If you don't want to experience The Blessings, The Miracles and The Power, well that's on you and everyone else that agrees with you. In all this I believe, that OUR names are written in the Book of Life, Amen. However, I can't bring myself to believe that OUR Lord and Savior died in vain. When the Word of God says "by His stripes we were healed", who is that speaking of? The world wants us to believe that when we get a headache we are supposed to run down to the drug store and get a bottle of asprin, or if we get cancer or other diseases we are to run to the doctor and believe their report? Then we make up some testimony about Aunt Mary dying of cancer because God called her home, or Uncle Bob is in a hospital bed because of a diease because it's God's will. Praise God, some people believe that, I'm just not one of those people. God is not a respector of people, what He has done for you, He'll do for others, right? Matthew 13:53-57 speaks of a Prophet without Honor, verse 58 says "And He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith. Well EdB, thank you for responding and remember one last point, you are not my enemy, the devil is. I leave you with John 15:7. Answered prayer is a privilege of close abiding; we find our prayers in tune with Jesus' will. The purpose of fruit-bearing is to bring glory to God, not man. Gods Blessings |

Heisthe1 First if I'm not your enemy, and I’m not, try taking a little less defensive position. Secondly I believe with all my heart in divine healing. Third I believe God is sovereign His will, will be done. Your right we must have faith to be healed, but that healing must serve God’s purpose first. If God has a reason for you to be ill, all the faith in the world will not heal you. I don’t see God giving a guarantee for our healing in Isaiah, I believe that passage is more concerned with our spiritual well being. However I do see physical healing in James 5 where the writer is saying if a believer gets sick, which to me proves believers do get ill, they should call for a the elders. The elders should anoint and pray for them and that combined faith will make them well. However again I believe it has to serve God’s purpose to heal them. Each healing in the Bible had a purpose. All showed the glory and power of God. In the New Testament most were to validate either Jesus or his apostles. Someone said it serves no purpose for us to be ill. That is simply untrue, why else would God state in Exodus 4:11 "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?” While we might not understand or like it, God sometimes has a purpose for illness. Again God is sovereign! God also has given us a promise that if we trust Him we will make all things (even Illness) work to our good. This is where the goodness of God can be seen. He will make ALL THINGS work to our good. God never promised a perfect life, with perfect health, with a perfect job, with a perfect spouse, with perfect children. GOD promised that if we trust in Him, keep our eyes on Him, he would make all things work out for our BEST. To many think that after becoming a Christian life will be a bowl of cherries. That is simply not true. Look at the Apostles everyone with the exception of John died horrible deaths. Look at the early church, Christian men watched their wives and daughters raped and murdered before their eyes. We see many in the New Testament suffering illness, Paul himself comments on his illnesses. We see great Christians today get ill. Suffering and illness is a part of this fallen world we live in. God told us that while we may have to go through it our victory has been assured. In Christ we have the victory. EdB |

'However again I believe it has to serve God’s purpose to heal them. Each healing in the Bible had a purpose. All showed the glory and power of God. In the New Testament most were to validate either Jesus or his apostles' I have a few questions. 1. We still have sick people in the world as they did in the gospels accounts. If the purpose of the healings showed the glory and power of Abba Father, does scripture say we can no longer see the glory and power of Abba Father thru healings like the ones performed in the gospels? 2. If most of the healings were to validate Jesus and his apostles, is it unscriptural for Jesus to be validated today thru signs and wonders (which include healing)? Some may never read the bible, so why can't we be living letters(doing signs and wonders) and maybe, just maybe, they will believe on our Father because of those signs and wonders. |
