Bible Note: Heisthe1 First if I'm not your enemy, and I’m not, try taking a little less defensive position. Secondly I believe with all my heart in divine healing. Third I believe God is sovereign His will, will be done. Your right we must have faith to be healed, but that healing must serve God’s purpose first. If God has a reason for you to be ill, all the faith in the world will not heal you. I don’t see God giving a guarantee for our healing in Isaiah, I believe that passage is more concerned with our spiritual well being. However I do see physical healing in James 5 where the writer is saying if a believer gets sick, which to me proves believers do get ill, they should call for a the elders. The elders should anoint and pray for them and that combined faith will make them well. However again I believe it has to serve God’s purpose to heal them. Each healing in the Bible had a purpose. All showed the glory and power of God. In the New Testament most were to validate either Jesus or his apostles. Someone said it serves no purpose for us to be ill. That is simply untrue, why else would God state in Exodus 4:11 "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?” While we might not understand or like it, God sometimes has a purpose for illness. Again God is sovereign! God also has given us a promise that if we trust Him we will make all things (even Illness) work to our good. This is where the goodness of God can be seen. He will make ALL THINGS work to our good. God never promised a perfect life, with perfect health, with a perfect job, with a perfect spouse, with perfect children. GOD promised that if we trust in Him, keep our eyes on Him, he would make all things work out for our BEST. To many think that after becoming a Christian life will be a bowl of cherries. That is simply not true. Look at the Apostles everyone with the exception of John died horrible deaths. Look at the early church, Christian men watched their wives and daughters raped and murdered before their eyes. We see many in the New Testament suffering illness, Paul himself comments on his illnesses. We see great Christians today get ill. Suffering and illness is a part of this fallen world we live in. God told us that while we may have to go through it our victory has been assured. In Christ we have the victory. EdB |
