1 | Do babies go to heaven or hell? | Gen 5:24 | mark d seyler | 153831
Searcher, In referrence to your post 138120, I ask: Was David buried in the same grave as his son, or did his spirit join his son's spirit in the depths of the earth, in Abraham's bosom? Were the kings of Isreal buried in a mass grave, or did they rather, as spirits, descend to either the side of comfort or the side of torment? Was Jacob buried in the same grave with his son? I think this is much better understood to mean that their spirits all went to the same place. David clearly expected to see his son again. Did Numbers 14 express a principle to be universally applied, or state a specific pronouncement agains a specific people? Romans 5 tells us that before Moses, before the Law was given, sin was not imputed. We have all sinned, but it is only imputed sin which will condemn someone to the lake of fire, the second death. The Law existed before the giving of the Law, because right is always right, and wrong is always wrong. The Law had not been communicated to the people. If a child, or my austistic nephew, is unable to understand the Law, will God then impute sin against them? He says where there is no law there is no imputed sin, and for these people, there is no Law. They still sin, and will die, but I think I will hang my hat on the words of Jesus: Luke 18:16 But Jesus called for them, saying, "Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." 2 Samuel 12:23 says "But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me." No where does it say "David clearly expected to SEE his son again." It shows that death is final and I believe David was buried in place as his son and joined him in death. If their spirits all went to the same place, why didn't David mention it elsewhere? 1 Kings 14:31 says And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David ... also read other accounts (1 Kin 15:24, 22:50; 2 Kin 8:24, 13:13, 14:16, 15:7, 15:38, 16:20, 2 Chr 21:1, 26:23). There was a common palce to bury the kings (2 Chr 28:27). I think Jacob was buried with his sons (Gen 50:1-14) ... notice verse 13 ansd study who else was buried there, and Joesph's request in verses 24-25. Numbers 14 may be universally applied. |

How can you say death is final? The resurrection is fully established throughout the New and Old Testaments. David wrote of it. Job spoke of it. Do you not believe in the resurrection? What justification can you offer to say that Numbers 14 gives us a universal age of accountability? Is it applied somewhere else in scripture? Is it taught anywhere else in scripture? Does this passage say that it is to be applied to more than to this situation, with these people? But back to the original question: 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Doesn't this open the door to God receiving children, and the mentally incompetent, to Himself? Didn't Jesus say that the kingdom of God belongs to "such as these little children"? Do you believe that God will condemn to the lake of fire one who lacks the ability to understand, and to believe, one whose sins were also placed on Jesus, as He died on the cross? Love in Christ, Mark |

4 | Do babies go to heaven or hell? | Gen 5:24 | Searcher56 | 153934
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment (Heb 9:27) means death is final. Yes, there is resurrection ... in fact two (Rev 20:5ff). We are on dangerous grounds if something is given once and we discount it (children who disobey their parents). Numbers 14 gives us some idea about what happens at age of 20. 1 John 2:2 as well as John 3:16 says he died for the world. Just as coupons that are sent out and we get ... they need to be redeemed ... we must take action - accept them, believe that they are true and make the call ... else they are worthless to us. Children come with less baggage ... "such as these little children" ... since God wants all to be saved as He says in 2 Peter ... why does He let us live beyond a certain point. We condemn ourselves ... plus, if we wanted our children to get a free pass, we could never explain what is right and evn more important the way to heaven. Now answer ... Psalm 51:5 says we were born sinners (Gen 8:21, Psa 58:3, Jhn 9:34, Eph 2:3). Do you agree? God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah there were less than ten righteous (Gen 18:16-19:25) and only the righteous have eternal life, the unrighteous, eternal punishment (Mat 25:31-46). Were the babies righteous or unrighteous? |

Searcher, I find it very difficult to discuss this with you in that you do not answer the questions I ask you about your belief in this matter. Is a person condemned to the lake of fire for actual sin, or imputed sin? Love in Christ, Mark |
