1 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | bibleman12 | 214989
Hi Steve, Good question. No the human sacrifice specifficly is not the question. It is when we talk to him and tell him the loss his family is going through and the "death" to his family that he is causing he responds: "Well Abraham was commanded to kill his son so why should I be any different. To which I replied: You are not Abraham. Christ has become our sacrfice and we need no more. It is wrong for you to hurt you family in this way and etc... He replies If God told Abraham to kill his son then don't think it strange if things in my life have to die as well. So I am trying to get him to see the truth of Abraham's testing. So indirectly I would like to have an answer to this question so that I can let him know how wrong he is. But he says that there must be an error in the Bible since God told Abraham to kill his son and in James we are told that God does not temp any man with evil. Well the point of the whole question is how do we reconcile Genesis 22:2 where God told Abraham to offer his son as a burnt offering (which of course would kill him - and would be evil if you are I did it) with James 1:14 that tells us that God does not temp with evil. I really did not come here to cause any kind of trouble just to get a question answered. It is a real shame that some have taken a very difficult Bible question to be some strange attempt to try and trap people. I am not doing that, just would like an answer from Scripture. |

Bibleman, I strongly suggest it is your obligation to call the authorites and advise them of the state of your friend. The local police or sheriff's office need to be called immediately before any harm is done to human life. Do not delay, this is serious.
