1 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | stjohn | 214949
Well I suppose you perhaps you are feeling rather smug? Personally, my friend, I think you have been given quite a few good answers. And for someone who was sincerely looking for a way to witness to a friend, I believe you would have been a bit more willing to receive them graciously. What you are doing is called circular logic, and if you don't mind too much my saying, you aren't really very good at it. Friend I can think of a lot better ways to witness to a friend than your brand of reasoning. Why don't you tell your friend how much you love being a child of God and how much you Love Jesus for dyeing on the cross for your sins, and how much you love getting up in the morning knowing you have eternal life in Christ? Don't you think that would be a better way to witness to a friend? Don't you think telling your friend that they are a sinner and doomed to hell if they do not repent and turn to Jesus Christ; would be a better way to witness to them, then going around in silly childish little circles? Thanks, but, no thanks. I'm not going to play with you. (smile) Friend, from the way you have been responding to notes and answers, it is quite obvious you are not witnessing to a friend. I rather think you are just having a little fun playing stump the teacher. Well friend, you are not very good at it, so please take your fun somewhere else, this is a Bible study, not a playground. Hi John, Smug? I thought there were rules on this board about treating others in the Love of Christ! John, you don't know me and have borne a false witness toward me. I do have a friend and he is a Christian who is bipolar. He comes up with these strange beliefs about Scripture. Like saying his family must sacrifice because of God's so called "call" on his life. He does not work but reads the Bible all day long - but comes up with these strange beliefs. His family is suffering and I am trying to help. He has asked this question concerning Abraham and I am trying to get him "NOT a religious answer" but a Biblical answer. To date you are no one else (including me) has been able to offer a Biblical response that makes sense. So before you start judging you should know a little bit more of the facts. Proverbs 18:13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him. |

3 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214955
Hi bibleman This is your original question: "When God told Abraham to kill his son... why was that not sin and why was that not tempting Abraham to sin? Which would be against what God said in James chapter 1 about God NOT temping any man with evil." In your asking this question you were not being honest with the members of this forum, you purposefully with-held information. Information which now you try to use as a defense, for your being so obtuse in your reluctance to accept any answers as sufficient. By doing so, you denied those that were trying to answer your question, information that was pertinent to "SOMEONE ELSES QUESTION" namely, someone that should be locked up if they think God is telling them do kill. When you were confronted with your unwillingness to look at your question rationally, you again with-held this information, you just stated that you were talking to a friend. Granted you did ask a question, it was answered correctly. But far beyond that, you came to a forum for studying the word of God trying to get an answer for a person that needs counseling. That is not the purpose of the forum. If you would have posted the true facts of your dilemma, as you have finally done, you would have saved everyone involved a lot of time. There is no answer that will be sufficient for your friend, but the question then arises, IS IT SUFFICIENT FOR YOU? I will be praying for you, and your friend. May God Bless you Vintage68 |

4 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | bibleman12 | 214957
Hi Vintage68, Your calling my question dishonest is very un-Christian. I said only what I need to say to ask the question. I did not say anything further until some members began to say I was only here trying to play games. That dear brother was wrong. So to show that then I gave the "additional" information. My, but you folks are sure ready to jump on anybody that is truly seeking a Biblical response. I have only asked a question that is very difficult to answer, I know that. I have a number of resources I have looked at and have not found the answer as of yet. So if you do not know the answer please do not get upset with me. I don't know the answer either. |

5 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214958
Hi bibleman My intent was not meant to insult you, but when asking a question of people , those people need to know the special circumstances surrounding said question. Because the answer to your question is really very simple. There is no answer for a person that is suffering from a mental illness. There is no logical way of answering an Illogical question. Is that the reason you, have to this point been unable to answer it yourself? I did not say your question was dishonest, but we all need to know what the real reason any given question is asked.
