TheCurtMan I also would admonish you to do some searches this subject has been discussed many times. I would like to add one thing by asking a question. Can any Christian say they faced less opposition from Satan once they became saved? If we can't lose our salvation then why is Satan trying so hard to get us to sin? Surely it isn't because Satan doesn't know whether we can lose our salvation or not. I think he knows very well and tries everything he can to have us doubt our salvation experience and eventually reject God. I'm afraid in many cases he is very successful, I have seen many strong Christians yield to his wiles and walk away from the faith they once exhibited. Were they saved or not I don't know. What I do know once they were living for God and now their living for the world. EdB |

Ed, thanks for your response. I can't help but to think that there is more than one reason for a course of action. I think that Christians are attacked spiritually not so much to get us to loose our salvation, but to ruine our testimony before God and man. If an unbeliever see you stumble in a particular area, one of the first things they say is; "and he's suppose to be a christian." Your testimony for God at that point is no more good in the eyes of that person. What makes it worse is that YOU might be the only bible they read. You and your actions. The adversary has been called many things, biblically, including the 'accuser of the bretheren'. He can accuse us all he wants, but The Judge is the same one that says that no one, at no time can pluck us out of His hand. And just for the record, I'm not out for a debate on this issue. I know it's been hashed time, and time again. I'm honestly curious about my brothers and sisters perspective on the matter. For me, this is ONE of the many ways I learn and understand things. The CurtMan While our testimony is important most sin is done in secret. It is the sin of unforgiveness, hatefulness, being unloving, uncaring, lying and cheating. Ever wonder how many Christians are totally honest on their income tax? Or honest in describing their trade in car? Or obeying speeding laws? Dr. Dobson has a help line and they get an unbelievable number of calls each week from Pastors caught up in pornography. Nobody knows the sin that is rampant in this world, how many young children are being sexually abused, how merchandise is be stolen, how much illicit drugs or sex is taking place. To me whether you can lose your salvation of not is not really important. To me living a life pleaseing to my Lord is of far more importance. Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments. I pretty much precludes committing sin. EdB |
