Hi Ed, We have not talked in awhile. "I would like to add one thing by asking a question. Can any Christian say they faced less opposition from Satan once they became saved? If we can't lose our salvation then why is Satan trying so hard to get us to sin? Surely it isn't because Satan doesn't know whether we can lose our salvation or not. I think he knows very well and tries everything he can to have us doubt our salvation experience and eventually reject God." There is another school of though here which I find equally compelling. Satan fights us no harder after salvation as before. But rather believers are finally aware of Him and His tactics and are resisting him. This makes us very concious of his efforts. Speaking from personal experience he was very active in his lying deceptions when I was lost and equally lying afterward. Until I began to understand that I had to 'believe God' (through His Word) and 'resist the devil' he had just as strong a negative influence on my life as before. I gave it to him in ignorance of the Word. And secondly, he has a very good reason to oppose believers. That would be to prevent our testimony and to rob us of the victory..be that joy, peace, health, boldness to speak, confidence in prayer...whatever, in an attempt to prevent others from coming to the knowledge of the truth. John 10 9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. The Good Shepherd cares for the sheep as they 'go in and out and find pasture'. Just a point to ponder. God bless God bless |

Graceful Your the only Christian that I know that has ever said Satan did not step up his activity in your life once you became a Christian. I know in my life while I was lost in sin most if not all of the sin was satisfaction of the flesh once I became a Christian I had to deal with people lying about me, tragedy and anything else Satan could throw at me. As for ruining our testimony I agree but most sin is secret sin that never is found out. Sin of unforgiveness, hatefullness, pornography, lust and such. Wheher we can lose of salvation or not is really not that important what is important is living our life to please God. Jesus said if you live Me you will keep my commandments, that pretty much eliminates all sin. EdB |

"Your the only Christian that I know that has ever said Satan did not step up his activity in your life once you became a Christian. I know in my life while I was lost in sin most if not all of the sin was satisfaction of the flesh once I became a Christian I had to deal with people lying about me, tragedy and anything else Satan could throw at me." Colossians 1:13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Who here cannot look at the lives of lost friends or relatives and see the destruction of Satan in their lives. They are just blind to it. That same destruction was there when we were in the world. I have heard and even said that Satan did not bother me when I was in the world because I was not a threat to him. But now I look back and realize that he was just as determined to destroy me before I came to Jesus. Before I came to know Jesus, Satan was extremely active in my life and that of my family...divorce, alcoholism, divisions and quarreling, suicide. But since I was traveling downstream with them, I did not realize who the liar was behind all this. But God opened my eyes and translated me out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of His Son. Then the Word began to change me and although he is still around, he certainly does not have the ability he used to have to lie to me. The Truth of the Word opposes him! I am in no way free from his attempts to discourage and trip me up and once in awhile I do trip. The difference is that then I was down and stayed down because I did not realize there was an up. Now of I find myself down, I believe the Word and the Holy Spirit lift me up. "As for ruining our testimony I agree but most sin is secret sin that never is found out. Sin of unforgiveness, hatefullness, pornography, lust and such." Yes and also by stealing our joy and peace through fear and unbelief. Not only through sins we commit, but also through sins of omission. "Whether we can lose of salvation or not is really not that important what is important is living our life to please God. Jesus said if you live Me you will keep my commandments, that pretty much eliminates all sin." I agree! This has been my position on the matter. I am not trying to see how much sin I can get away with but how much closer I can get to the Lord and how much more like Him I can become!" God bless |

Graceful When we are not saved we are destroyed. Flesh controls us Satan can stand back and watch as we destroy ourselves. However once we are in Christ Jesus, Satan becomes our raging adversary. Look at Paul’s life. Before he was saved he lived a life of respect, high honor, and wanted for nothing, but alas he was damned. Then he gave himself to the Lord. From that point on Satan had a bulls eye painted on his back. Paul was hated, distrusted, lied about, despised, stoned, whipped, flogged, maltreated, shipwrecked, imprisoned, ran out of town. He found himself cold, hungry, broke, under treat of thieves and wild animals. When we are not saved sin has us and the lust of the flesh will kill us. But once we are saved Satan does everything he can to cause us to doubt, regret, or question our salvation. When you observe divorce, alcoholism, divisions and quarreling, and suicide among the lost, your not seeing Satan’s works, your seeing the results of living in sin. When you see such amongst the saved your seeing Satan’s accomplishments as he has set about to kill, steal and destroy. EdB |

"When we are not saved we are destroyed." No doubt...lost and without God...condemned to death.. "Flesh controls us Satan can stand back and watch as we destroy ourselves." The carnal nature was indeed in control and we knew nothing else. Even our 'good' was evil. But to say Satan just sat back and watched is not true. Demonic possession alone proves that assertion incorect. The fact is, Satan is active in his kingdom of darkness. Matthew 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: Yes, Paul suffered many things...and yes, men are the instrument Satan uses to persecute the body of Christ. "When you observe divorce, alcoholism, divisions and quarreling, and suicide among the lost, your not seeing Satan’s works, your seeing the results of living in sin. When you see such amongst the saved your seeing Satan’s accomplishments as he has set about to kill, steal and destroy." Satan's goal to steal kill and destroy does not apply only to believers. God bless |

gracefull My original point was Satan steps up his attacks once we become believers. If it would be impossible to to cause a believer to stumble then he would be doing this without reason. My contention is there is a reason, Satan wants to plant doubt enough for us to question our salvation, get frustrated in the our Christian walk and/or to stop trusting in God. He wants us to move in our own power and will thus cutting our dependance on God and eventually moving us to a place where we turn our backs on God and wlaking away from the faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Satan is here to steal, destroy and kill. To steal our joy our faith, to destroy our relationship with God, causing us to rely on ourselves rather than our heavenly father, and to kill if he can cause us to lose faith he has broken the tie (faith in Jesus ) that has bound us to God. Once again without faith it is impossible to please God. EdB |

Hi Ed, We did get off course. "If we can't lose our salvation then why is Satan trying so hard to get us to sin?" This was the only point I was trying to address as well, and not to necessarily disagree. Merely observing there is reasoning on the other side of the coin... God bless |
