Dear Brother Hank, Your multilingual acumen is impressive. I wonder if you could work with Rick Meyers to get an HAV (Hank's Arkanese Version) of the Bible on E-Sword? To whet our appetites for such a translation, would you please provide the HAV rendering for 2 Samuel 18:9? (I anticipate that Song of Solomon 4:1 in HAV would simply be "Whoowee!") In Him, Doc PS That reminds me of an anecdote of a few years ago. A young man I knew had worked on a computerized English-Russian and Russian-English translator. He was happily telling me all about it. He offered it up for my examination. I run the English-Russian program and entered "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." The program promptly spit out the results. I was impressed with the speed, but I do not know Russian. So, naturally, I used the Russian as input to the Russian-English translation program. The immediate response was, "The booze are strong but the meat is rotten." :-) |

Happy to oblige, Doc. 2 Samuel 18:9 in Hank's Arkanese Version (HAV) reads: "And Ab he met David's lackeys. And Ab was riding this here mule and led the the pore old beast right smack dab under a great big old oak tree. Ab got his head caught in the limbs but the mule which had a heap more horse sense than Ab did thought it was high time to git out of Dodge, so he lit out a running, leaving Ab hanging by the head from the oak tree looking for all world like he'd been hung up to dry." ..... The HAV of Proverbs 4:1: "You shore are a sight for sore eyes, sweetheart. You're purty as a pitcher. Under that there bandana you're wearing I can see that you got eyes that kinda remind me of the way them dove birds' eyes look at you, and yore hair it looks like them goats that lives up in the Ozark Mountains." --Hank

Dear Hank, You know, if Zondervan sees your post you're going to be set for life! I can tell that I let too much of the Texan in me influence my translation of Song 4:1 into just "Whooee!" But, on the other hand, maybe that is why there are more of us Texans around than Arkansans. We don't beat around the bush. :-) In Him, Doc |

Doc, better check with Ray, resident expert on capitalization. That word "bush" you used maybe should be written "Bush"! --Hank
