Bible Question: Belieiving in the providnece of God is hard to reconcile at times. How do I find God's grace and comfort in the midst of a dark season, by which He, providentually brought me to? How do I trust in the same hand of God for mercy that has brought suffering? |
Bible Answer: To ask, "How do I trust God in this matter," is saying, "I do not believe God in this matter, even though I want to; how can I come to believe Him in this matter knowing that God has called us to suffer?" (1 Pet. 2:21) I've generalized the question to give a general answer. 1. the Word: Study it; sit under the preaching of it, and remember the suffering of the Lord (in communion). "faith comes by hearing" Rom 10. As you take in His word trust God that His Holy Spirit will give you the faith to believe God in the midst of suffering. (I found great comfort from the word of God when my son died.) 2. Pray: the Lord's prayer (particularly, "and lead us not into tempation"); pray for understanding and wisdom. (James 1 - asking for wisdom in the context of suffering) |
