Bible Question: Belieiving in the providnece of God is hard to reconcile at times. How do I find God's grace and comfort in the midst of a dark season, by which He, providentually brought me to? How do I trust in the same hand of God for mercy that has brought suffering? |
Bible Answer: Job is a great biblical character to refer to. He was one whom God had confidence in. God allowed Job to suffer tremendously at the hand of Satan for awhile and strenghtened Job's faith in the process. 1 Peter 1:7 (New International Version) 7These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. God allows us to enter trials or storms or dark seasons to strengthen us. An important thing to remember are the four truths found in 1 Cor. 10:13 as well: 1 Corinthians 10:13 (New International Version) 13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1) God is faithful. All the time 2) You aren't the only one who is suffering or has ever suffered. Remember Job. 3) God will never put on you more than you can handle. It may feel like you can't take any more, but He knows you far better than you know yourslef. He created you. 4) He will always provide a way out. Now, these scriptures and truths are mainly for temptation, but they also help to remember during our stroms of life. Providence is a hard thing to understand using our human, finite mind considering we are dealing with an infinite God. It's not that He put you in the storm to be mean, it is to grow you and you may have actually had some doing in it yourself. Every trial or storm is an opportunity to grow. |
