Subject: Suffering and God's providence |
Bible Note: Hi Doc, I was making a general statement on the assumption that one is walking right with God and I did post a couple of verses. It seems the "discipline" can pertain to the conscious exercise of godly character in the midst of suffering (vs.1-3). It is the Lord's discipline in that he calls believers to this exercise. For the believer walking right with God, there will be suffering, not because God is handing it to him (unless it be for judgment against sin) but because we live in the midst of those hostile to the gospel and God's desire is that we grow in confomity to the Son (cf. v.10). |
