Subject: Suffering and God's providence |
Bible Note: Hi Trustin_JC (and may we all be the same!) Great post! Welcome to the Forum! I would like to also point out that the same Greek word, peirasmos, is used in 1 Cor 10:13 translated temptations, as in James 1:2 translated trials. That usage is continued throughout the New Testament. This words refers to "showing the proof" of something, like a blacksmith might show the temperance of his steel by striking it. Temptations, trials, suffering of all varieties, are the striking of the Master's hammer, showing what we are really made of, showing where we need more work, and continuing to shape us. Well done!
