Subject: Apostles, Prophets? An Office for Today? |
Bible Note: Greetings Joe! Good evening! You must be a night owl too! :-) The definition I laid out for the Trinity is the orthodox definition - regardless of what you may have heard! ;-) In response to your question though, the Trinity does not teach that 'God' is a shared Title. It says that there is only One God, not three. But, that One God is also manifested in the Bible as three distinct Persons - Father, Son, and Spirit. Here is the 'mysterious' part. How can Three be One? We don't know, but we do know what Scripture says. So, if Scripture says that there is only one God, yet Scripture also says that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are God, then they must be! :-) I'm not sure what you are saying in your last point. Colossians was written to combat an early form of Gnosticism that denied the full Deity of Jesus. So, if someone denies the full Deity of Christ, then they would be guilty of the error taught against in Colossians. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
