Bible Question: Are the offices of Apostles and Prophets still needed today? |
Bible Answer: iverson: Welcome to the Forum! Good question, and many question the same things. This is a debatable subject. For those who are of a charasmatic background they might, or would say yes. I am not of that understanding of Scripture, and say this; Apostles were limited to those who had a literal first hand eye witness to the life of Jesus Christ. For me that ends that part, that there are no present day Aposrles. Prophets again is mainly identified with charismatic or pentacostal bacgrounds. This is used largely among Word of Faith movement believers. I find this gift miss-used today. Hank Hanegraaff in his book COUNTERFET REVIVAL calls this "fabrications, fantasies, and frauds. I openly admit this book of Hanegraaff's is my position as well. Perhaps the greatest of these false prophets seem to come out of the Toronto Airport Vineyard. Many are those who become discouraged, and weak Christians, who have been duped, and nearly destroyed by the Word of Faith movement. TBN television being a permoter of such false prophets, and false Christianity. Such false prophets and teachers as Benny Hinn, Marilyn Hickey, Joyce Meyer, Bill McCartney, Oral Roberts, John and Carol Arnott, Jack Coe, Paul Crouch, Jack Deere, Jesse Duplantis, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Rick Joyner, Jimmy Swaggart, John White, Smith Wigglesworth, John and Carol Wimble, are just a few of the past and present who are part of this apostasty. These names come from Hanegraaff's COUNTERFEIT REVIAL. I STRONGLY suggest that every Christain read Hanegraaff's COUNTERFEIT REVIVAL and Chrisit IN CHRISTIANITY. Those who are in this false movement will attack the Scriptual truth and defend these false teachers to the enth degree. I openly admit this is a rapidly growing movement that I believe is the most dangerious threat to inmature Christians, who are not well grounded in Scripture. I hope this helps you. I am sure this may be more than you expected, but it is as complet as I could do. Blessings. justme |
