Subject: Is Jesus YHWH? |
Bible Note: The question often arises, with regard to the term Trinity, how can there be three yet one? For sake of clarification lets say that God, as we know him, has certain characteristics, not all are listed here, but these ten are listed for sake of simple clarity; again, this is not a complete list but it's sufficient for the brief explanation. God is, as we know Him, sovereignty, righteousness, justice, love, eternal life, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, immutability, and veracity. God is one in unity with all of these characteristics just mentioned. Whoever has All of these attributes is in fact God. It so happens that there are three separate personalities, and only three in existence, that have All of these attributes and for sake of accommodation, they are referred to in the Bible as, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. They have existed Together forever in eternity past and they will continue on forever into eternity future; the three personalities had no beginning, they always were and always will be. Anyone exhibiting All of the listed traits mentioned is God, it so happens that there are only three personalities in existence that posses All of these attributes. God is ONE IN ESSENCE but THREE IN PERSONALITIES. God decided in eternity past that one of these personalities, the one we call the Son, would take on the form of a man and be born into the human race, his name as a human, would be called Jesus. This one personality was going to place himself in a human body so that he could pay the high price that God demanded for sin, which is death. God just because of his essence as God, can’t die so he had to take on the body of a human and he only did it once for the purpose of dying for mankind. That why Jesus said what he did in, John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. God was only going to do this one time and that one time was in the man Jesus the Christ. The Bible says that this one, who will come, will be recognized as God with us. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Jesus main object was to pay the price of death for mankind. Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Hebrews 1:2-3 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. When God the second person took on the form of a man it is referred to as the hypostatic union. (i.e.) Jesus is a one-of-a-kind being, 100 percent God and 100 percent man; he was the God man. He is different from the other two members of the God Head in that he is a man. He is different from mankind in that he is God. Even though Jesus was walking around on this Earth as a man, he was at the same time holding the Universe together by the power of his might as God. I hope this will settle a lot of the confusion about what is called the Trinity, which is not a word that is actually used in the Bible, but it is a term that has been coined to cover a fact of doctrine. Every technical subject uses a technical language. Just remember God is one in essence, but this essence is revealed in three separate personalities, making all three God, one God, three persons. Just like the old hymn says, God in three persons blessed Trinity. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
