Subject: Is Jesus YHWH? |
Bible Note: Aniset, you stated, “Since Jehovah is eternal and had no beginning (Ps 90:2; Re 15:3), the Word's being with God from "the beginning" must here refer to the beginning of Jehovah's creative works. You wrote: “Jesus himself credited God with the creation, as do all the Scriptures.-Mt 19:4-6” Not true! If you read Psalm 89:20-27, you will better understand how Scripture interrupts Scripture. David was the youngest of Jesse’s sons, yet God declared He would make David “the first-born”. God didn’t change the “order of David’s birth”. God meant by “the first born” that David would have preeminent over all the kings of Israel. David is still considered Israel’s “best”. In the context of Col. 1:15, we learn that Col 1:16 informs us “for by Him (Jesus Christ) were ALL things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: ALL things were created by Him (Jesus Christ) and for Him (Jesus Christ).” Surely you are not suggesting that Jesus created Himself, since it clearly states Jesus is the creator of all. This is often confirmed in Scripture. Like Eph 2:9 “…mysteries, which from the beginning of the world have been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.” Concering your claim Col 1:15; Re 1:1; 3:14) –“Thus the Scriptures identify the Word (Jesus in his prehuman existence) as God's first creation, his firstborn Son.” Haven’t you NOTICED what else Revelation declares concerning the term “the beginning”? Rev 21:6-7 states that the Alpha and Omega, the BEGINNING and the end … I will be their God…” God places Himself in context with the beginning AND the end. Apparently, “beginning” (the Greek word “arche”, from Rev. 3:14) MEANS something other than what you thought. It is the same word we get architect from. In other verses it is translated governor, magistrates, first, principalities. It is also the same word that you will find in Luke 12:11. “arche” is translated “government officials”. Taking Scripture as a whole, Rev. 3:14 IS plainly talking about Jesus Christ (the creator of all things), is the ruler of God’s creation. Blessinigs, Taleb |
