Subject: Show in the Bible once saved always |
Bible Note: The best answer that I have for this question is found in Ephesians "For by grace are you saved through faith, and yet not of yourselves it is the gift of God lest any man should boast" We did nothing to earn salvation it was a gift that came through faith. Salvation is totally dependent upon Christ's work on the cross and his resurrection from the dead. To say that we can lose our salvation would be to say that his payment for our sin was not enough and that his righteousness was not enough. If this was true salvation would be dependent upon our works and what we do not on what God has done! That is not the good news of the gospel! The good new is that Jesus paid it all. Read Colossians Chapter 2. Vs 8 tells us how we should live. vs 13 tells us what Jesus' death did. God's purpose throughout history has been to glorify himself. Ephesiand 2 says that we are examples of his grace and his glory. Why would he want to share his glory with someone else. If our salvation is depentent in any way on our actions than it is not a gift, we earn it, or we do not earn it. That's all. I would suggest you do some study on the Abrahamic covenent in Gen 12-17. It will shed some light upon the type of promise God has made to us (One party covenent) Keep Studying! Pastor s |
