Bible Note: John 3:15 That whosoever believeth (pisteuo - a verb) in him should not (not cannot, or will not) perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth (pisteuo- a verb) in him should not ( not cannot or will not) perish, but have everlasting life. in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:36 He that believeth (pisteuo - a verb, denoting ongoing and continious action) on the Son hath (echo - to hold one's self to a thing, to lay hold of a thing, to adhere or cling to) everlasting life: For John 5:24 Same as previous verses. ("hath everlasting life" denotes present possession, and future possession only for those who continue in the faith) John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: (The sheep are those who continue to hear and follow Him) 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand. (This is the promise for the ones who persevere in the faith. "Eternal Security" involves perseverance in the faith. The promise of eternal life is to the "overcomers" Rev. 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Concerning Rom. 8:35, 37-39 Scripture says sin separtates us from God. Isaiah 59:2 Eph 1:12 That we should be (not necesssarily will be, but should be. it's is within God's perfect will that we should be, but then there is God's permissive will also) to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest (arrhabon - money which in purchases is given as a pledge or downpayment that the full amount will subsequently be paid.) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. The earnest is only a downpayment Eph 4:30 also mentions the possibility of grieving the Holy Spirit, along with the admonition not to. Phil 1:6 God continues to abide in those who continue to abide in Him see John 15:4. Abide is key here as it is throughout God's word Heb. 10:12-14 merely speaks about the ones who are sanctified. Not about whether salvation can be lost or not 1Pet. 1:3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope (elpis - expectation of eternal salvation - I don't see how hope and assurance can be the same. I can hope for many things. That does not mean I will necessarily have all I hope for.) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, (but were not home to fill the spot reserved for us, which is yet future.) 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (Notice the ones who are kept are not merely kept but they are kept by faith - our faith. This also talks about salvation which is to be revealed in the last time. That means it has not as yet been revealed) Concerning the words "Who are kept by the power of God through faith" God's word also says, " Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God," So we see we are kept as we keep. In this my reply I showed how the verses you mentioned do not to me at least support the concept of unconditional eternal security" You may differ I respect that |
