NASB | 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God's seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again--who is reborn from above--spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him. |

Bible Note: CDBJ To leave a gun alone if you know nothing about it effects no one and may well as you said prevent an accident. However leaving this alone may cost infants their lives. Therefore I was very wrong in saying I will leave it. Promoting the idea that a baby is nothing more than a fetus (mass of living cells) until it breaths it's first breath is very dangerous and plays right into the abortionists hands. The justification for partial birth abortion is based on that argument. I personally can not believe a man of God would state such a thing. He had to know how his words would be interpreted and could see how the abortionists would use them. He may be a great theologian, he may a great preacher, he may have a heart of compassion and ability to teach, preach and pastor people but the man’s statements support ideas that are contrary to scripture and actually reinforces the lies and deception of the adversary. Rereading the story of John's reaction while yet in his mother’s womb and knowing that all scripture is inspired. I can see no reason for a third party (Luke) to report on John's reaction to Mary's voice unless God inspired the writer to do so. That then begs the question why? What was God showing us? Was he showing us babies move in the womb? Probably not since this was written about 4000 years after the first baby was conceived, I think in that length of time people especially mothers figured out babies moved. What other motive could God have to including this bit of information? Is it possible an all knowing all seeing God knew people especially abortionists would one day make claims similar to what Dr. Thiemes has made, that babies in wombs weren't babies at all but soulless masses of cells until they first breathed on their own? And God in his wisdom included this bit of information about John responding to Mary’s voice, as proof babies in the womb are spiritually aware, are creations of God and are living babies to be held as precious as a newborn babies are? To me Luke 1:41 is demonstrating John’s spiritual awareness and from everything I can find in the oldest commentaries available to me this the same conclusion reached by our Church Fathers down through the ages. Perhaps our Dr. Thiemes should stick to chromosomes and leave the timing of when a baby becomes a baby alone. I pray that no one would be deceived by this nonesense and that no one would use Thiemes statements to justify an abortion. EdB |
