NASB | 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God's seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again--who is reborn from above--spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him. |

Bible Note: Greetings Emmaus, Your insight, biblically speaking, from your point of view suggests the following in opposition to what I have commented on. You stated, “The concept of the independent infant, thereby making it a real human being, is absurd.” I intern think that your idea of baptismal regeneration, is absurd, truth be known but that’s your decision. I believe that regeneration come about as a result of grace through faith and that not of our selves it’s a gift from God, and one isn’t regenerated until faith in Jesus is expressed. Which one of us stands to suffer the greatest consequence if he is wrong; you with the work of baptism in opposition to faith, or me for being wrong on how I got my old sin nature? Have a great day, CDBJ |
