Subject: KJV vs "New Age Bible Versions"? |
Bible Note: DAIRYLEADER5 - Quoted from your response to Radioman: "We don't need Greek or Hebrew or any other language to teach Jesus." ...... How then did you come to learn about Jesus? Was language not involved? Since Scripture was originally written in Greek and Hebrew, somebody certainly needed to know Greek and Hebrew as well as English to make possible the English Bible you and I read. And wouldn't you agree that it's helpful for us to know how to read basic English or, if not English, some other language? Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to make heads or tails out of any Bible no matter what language it was written in. ..... I agree with you, a seminary degree is not a requirement for being able to read the Bible. But literacy is. ..... And by the way, the sort of "book review" that Radioman favored this forum with presents information that is worth knowing. There are untold numbers of Christian people being hood-winked into believing the fantastic idea that all modern versions of God's word are suspect and untrustworthy; that modern translators are united in some diabolical conspiracy to subvert the Scriptures; and that, by a process that has never been explained, the KJV is the only reliable version in the English language. Accordingly, I'd say Radioman's post was considerably more than a mere book review. It's information all Christians need to know. --Hank |
