Subject: Holy Spirit convicts of sin? |
Bible Note: I don't think I will get any fans here, but Matthew Henry is wrong according to the verse. In the verse it says He convicts the world of sin and the only sin that is mentioned is the sin of not knowing Christ. I think I will keep it simple and not add anything that that is not there or implied. So again, does the Holy Spirit ever convict anyone of any sin other than not knowing Christ. This would obviously not include Christians and implies the Holy Spirit only convicts us of our Righteousness which only comes from Christ and not of ourselves but is ours never the less. Not by anything we have accomplished of ourselves. What I am attempting to achieve here is a polar shift in my faith. I have always felt guilty for a sin I committed and thought it was "the conviction of the Holy Spirit". After a proper reading of this verse I now know I was wrong and that is not the Holy Spirit! |
