Question (full): from greekstudybible.org definition of prophet in NT and OT i think what i spelled out earlier in my prophetic assertions and scripture support fits in exactly and well, thanks prophet -s one who speaks forth openly before any one, a proclaimer of a divine message; among the heathen, an interpreter of the oracle. In the lxx. it is the translation of the earlier øàä, seer, showing that what really constituted the prophet, was immediate intercourse with God it is the ordinary word for , which means, either one in whom the Divinity permits his word to spring forth,---- or one to whom anything is whispered.--- The usage, however, of the word is clear; it signifies one on whom the Spirit of God rested (Num 11:17,25,26,29)... any alternative readings? |
