Bible Question: But didn't they have results in that what they prophesied came to pass? |
Bible Answer: Dear Vavatheresa, The prophesies that you mention did not belong to the prophets, rather the prophets spoke as directed by God. The prophesies were the Lord's, and they came to pass by His doing alone. There have been many people who have lived and died throughout the ages. God has preversed the memory of only a few of them in order to reveal the divine plan of redemptive history. Ezekiel and Jeremiah were used as instruments of God's eternal purpose. They would be the first to acknowledge that fact. It may sound like a matter of semantics, but it is the difference between giving God all of the glory or trying to make Him share it with man.
