Bible Question:
Searcher now I am really confused!!! You were the one who used the text containing Gamaliel's statments. Now you discrediting them? Possibly they need to be because his were words though truly spoken are not necessarily truth. Our Bible contains statments by many who were ungodly and is another example of how we need to study and know who is saying a thing before we us it as a doctrinal truth. Reading back over how this all got started I see that Jirehway was making a very valid point in saying that the "results" of her ministry should stand on their own. Not whether or not God accomplished them through a man or a woman. Only that they were the work of God. Maybe I should clarify what I have meant by "results". (I cannot, of course, speak for Jirehway) I consider results the same as God does. "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Mark 16:15-18 Jirehway has told us she has been in ministry for over 30 years. If during those 30 years noone had come to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead and confessed Him as Lord, then there could be some concern as to whether or not her ministry is of God. But on the basis of the results not on her gender. |
Bible Answer: yayatheresa Reread Searcher56's post he was showing the Gamaliel's statement was a statement of human understanding, not inspired of God. This proven but the fact Jehovah Witness and Mormons are very successful but very deceived. As for you proofs. I once knew a man that could tell you everything you did in your past. I saw him heal people in the name of Jesus and he claimed to actually raise a man from the dead. I didn't this. In any case I can also tell you this man move in familiar spirits and his Jesus was not the Jesus of the gospels. Satan is a counterfeiter he can and will counterfeit anything he sees. To know if a person’s ministry is of God or not is first determine are they in order according to scripture. Do they meet the qualifications given? Are they teaching and preaching Jesus, the only Son of the living God? Are they preaching the gospel or another gospel? Lastly when their done do you say, “wow he was good” or do you say, “wow Jesus is Good.” If your focus on them they aren’t preaching Jesus their preaching something that met you emotional needs. We are a nation of celebrity seekers, we follow and thrill over celebrities. This has crept into the church and we now have celebrity preachers. Imagine for a moment Paul’s reaction to all of this. Actually you don’t have to imagine we saw him react in Acts 14:14 to just this. When you go to church do you go to hear a certain speaker or to hear the message God through his Holy Spirit desires to be spoken? Far too many go to hear the speaker and couldn’t tell you the point of the message five minutes after the service. I digress I’m sorry To answer your question Searcher56 has been consistent with his analyst of Gamaliel’s message. Also let me say the criteria given in the Bible for signs and wonders can be counterfeited by Satan, that is why we must not focus so much on signs and wonders but rather on the message and how it aligns with scripture. If there is a conflict then we know the person is a false teacher. EdB |
