AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no one in any way deceive or entrap you, for that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first [that is, the great rebellion, the abandonment of the faith by professed Christians], and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction [the Antichrist, the one who is destined to be destroyed], [Dan 7:25; 8:25; 1 Tim 4:1] |
Bible Question:
Thanks CDBJ, The reason I asked is because with regard to Christs first advent and second advent there are no other advents/comings of Christ, so how is it that when the rapture is taught it is not in line with either the first advent which is plain that it could not be, or the second which according to scripture takes place at the last/seventh trumpet (1 Cor.15:51,52. Rev.10:7. Rev.11:15-19. The trumpets mentioned are found in Rev.8:-Revelation 11:.These trumpets are there as the consequence of the reign of the antichrist (Rev.14:8-10) With the understanding that according to the scripture, 1 Cor.15:51,52 is the last/seventh trumpet it can only take place after the tribulation, so why do we teach otherwise? Bible Answer: Hi MR What “most believers” don’t realize is that the word “coming”, with reference to Christ and the rapture, isn’t a verb, which designates action. The Koine Greek word is “PAROUSIA”, it’s actually a noun describing an event and the length of time involved starts at the moment that Jesus appears in the clouds and ends when He establishes His earthly kingdom. Just as the first advent of Christ covered a total of aprox. 33 years so the second advent of Jesus will be a period of time with different epochs of doctrinal being fulfilled within that time frame. The point in time that most believers know as the rapture just get it all started. 2 Thes. 2:9 Even him, whose coming (PAROUSIA) is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. You might want to pick up a book called, “The Sign”, (ISBN 1-58134-067-2) It is the most informative book that I’ve ever read on eschatology and it’s so easy that even I can understand it. Have a great day, CDBJ |
