AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord! [John 14:3; 1 Cor 15:52; 2 Cor 5:8; Phil 1:23; Col 3:4] |
Subject: Is the rapture biblically supported? |
Bible Note: Hi, Kalos. Thank you for posting this information about the Second Coming of Christ. The way I was taught is, the Rapture is the Second Coming of Christ, and what is spoken of in Revelation 19 is actually the Third Coming of Christ. Here is why. In I Corinthians 15:52, the Bible states, "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed," and I Thessalonians 4:17 (which is posted above in its entirety) says, we shall "meet the Lord in the air." These verses are talking about the Rapture, which will be the second time Christ comes to earth, to gather His elect. What Revelation 19:11-16 is talking about is Christ coming in all his glory, with the armies of heaven, to smite the nations and rule with a rod of iron. Everyone will know that Christ has come! Everyone will see Him coming. Whereas, in the Rapture, only the Believers will know He has come, and we must be looking for his soon return. However, after learning yesterday that there are two schools of thought on this subject, I am going to study for myself and ask God to show me what is right. I will get back to you on my findings. Meanwhile, I appreciate any more information you can post which would shed light on this, apparently, very divisive subject, for I want to read everything I can about it, with an open mind. Thank you, And God bless you, Janae. |
