AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord! [John 14:3; 1 Cor 15:52; 2 Cor 5:8; Phil 1:23; Col 3:4] |
Subject: Is the rapture biblically supported? |
Bible Note: Greetings Mark! You wrote: "To my reading, the Thessalonian people were thinking that the Day of Christ had come. Paul say no, first must be the "apostasia", falling away, or departure, and also the man of sin to be revealed. These are prerequisite prophecies to the Day of Christ, which I understand to be the Day of the Lord, not prerequisite to the rapture. I beleive that the rapture is the "apostasia", which must come before the Day of the Lord." I can't find any evidence for 'apostasia' having the meaning to 'to leave'. According to my sources, it refers to 'rebellion', ususally in a religious sense. What makes you believe that it is a reference to the rapture? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
