AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 5:16 ¶ But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. |
Subject: How to follow, walk in the Spirit? |
Bible Note: Hi Tim. If we look back at 1 John 1 for a greater context of the book, we then see that John is speaking to these people, as though they were in need of being taught again the basics of the Faith. So I can't believe that he was teaching doctrine. It appears to be nothing more than a (re- establishing, a reitteration), of where they, had come from, information they had known, this should not be misconstrued to be a teaching of, or for mature believers It is believed, the 1st. cent. church had problems with Judisers, Gnostics, Pagans. (Marriam Webster Dictionary) Reestablish: To establish anew; to fix or confirm again; to restore; as, to reestablish a covenant; Reitteration : To state or do over again or repeatedly sometimes (with wearying effect) 1 John 1:9 9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness When we are cleansed from "ALL" unrighteousness, at the point of Salvation, is it your belief, that this "ALL" only covers our Past unrighteousnesses? At what point then does "ALL" cease to mean "ALL" ? When we have been cleansed from "ALL" unrighteousness, then we become the Righteousness of God, in Christ, right? Romans 3:22 22) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 1 Corinthians 1:30 30) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: Galatians 2:21 21) I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Philippians 1:11 11) Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. Philippians 3:9 9) And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Do we obtain this righteousness by Grace, or Works? If Baptism can be viewed as Works, can't the (Confession of our sins), be viewed the same way? To clarify, I use Confession of sins, in relation to the believer sinning on a daily basis. Can we lose this righteousness? Does not the loss of righteousness constitute, (Loss of Salvation)? Isn't all sin unrighteousness? In Love for the Brethren. Nevvvvine |
