NASB | Galatians 5:16 ¶ But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 5:16 ¶ But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. |
Subject: How to follow, walk in the Spirit? |
Bible Note: Greetings Newwine! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have been very busy over the past couple of weeks. I would say that the sealing of the Holy Spirit takes place when we are baptized into the Body of Christ through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The filling of the Spirit can take place more than once. The disciples were said to be filled with the Spirit several times (Acts 2:4, 4:31, and 13:52). Is is possible for us to 'not walk' in the Spirit? It must be else why would Paul issue the imperative of Gal. 5:16. Not only is the command addressed to those in the church, but it is also a present tense imperative which indicate ongoing action. Thus, it could be translated, 'keep on walking'. Have a great Thanksgiving my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
