NASB | 2 Corinthians 1:5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 1:5 For just as Christ's sufferings are ours in abundance [as they overflow to His followers], so also our comfort [our reassurance, our encouragement, our consolation] is abundant through Christ [it is truly more than enough to endure what we must]. |
Subject: 2 Corinthians- What is 'suffering' |
Bible Note: And we know that [3] God causes (59) all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are (60) called according to His purpose. 29 For those whom He (61) foreknew, He also (62) predestined to become (63) conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the (64) firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these whom He (65) predestined, He also (66) called; and these whom He called, He also (67) justified; and these whom He justified, He also (68) glorified. 31 (69) What then shall we say to these things? (70) If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who (71) did not spare His own Son, but (72) delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against (73) God's elect? (74) God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who (75) condemns? Christ Jesus is He who (76) died, yes, rather who was [4] (77) raised, who is (78) at the right hand of God, who also (79) intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from (80) the love of [5] Christ? Will (81) tribulation, or distress, or (82) persecution, or (83) famine, or (84) nakedness, or (85) peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written, "(86) FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED." 37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly (87) conquer through (88) Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither (89) death, nor life, nor (90) angels, nor principalities, nor (91) things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from (92) the love of God, which is (93) in Christ Jesus our Lord. You said,"It is a pernicious doctrine because it denies the sovereignty of God in allowing disease to exist for His glory." (Romans 8:28) For those whom He (61) foreknew, He also (62) predestined to become (63) conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the (64) firstborn among many brethren; Predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ... LET ME MAKE ONE THING PERFECTLY CLEAR..(emphasis-not emotion nor shouting) The sovereign will of God is His Word. His sovereign will does not supersede His covenant, which is His Word. Do you agree? If so....... I am in no way saying God is not sovereign. The difference in belief here is not God's sovereignty but rather His will as defined in His covenant! I believe healing is provided through the atonement as stated in Isaiah 53 for all who receive by faith, just as salvation is received by faith in Jesus. You call it heresy because it disagrees with 'traditional orthodox teaching'. If scripture disagrees with traditional orthodox teaching-so be it. "Did God really allow such an important, "MAJOR" element of His gospel to be absent from the church for century upon century until we "enlightened" couch-potato Christians suddenly figured it out?" Religious leaders and then the dark ages of hidden "Word" kept truth suppressed. This truth came back out before television. Television is an instrument for reaching many...Or do you view TV as an instrument of the devil? Or are you simply 'profiling' WOF believers as believers who do not go to church? Most go to church AND study via TV. God bless |
