NASB | 2 Corinthians 1:5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 1:5 For just as Christ's sufferings are ours in abundance [as they overflow to His followers], so also our comfort [our reassurance, our encouragement, our consolation] is abundant through Christ [it is truly more than enough to endure what we must]. |
Subject: 2 Corinthians- What is 'suffering' |
Bible Note: Gracefull, Thanks for the post. Just wanted to discuss little more..... Heb 2:10 - For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 14, 15 - Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death... 18 - For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. From this i understand that.. He was made just like us...facing the same temptations that we faced, But He did not sin. Even though he *suffered* being tempted He did not sin, because He chose to be obedient to the Spirit. "...through death He might destroy him..." this death is not physical death, isn't it? I should say something like..."death to sin"....meaning no more sinning. Something we also can achieve, given the fact that we also are given the same Spirit.......Having been perfected, He is perfecting His brothers...So that we also can be totally free of sin and thus be partaker of the ressurrection also. Isn't it? |
