NASB | 2 Corinthians 1:5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 1:5 For just as Christ's sufferings are ours in abundance [as they overflow to His followers], so also our comfort [our reassurance, our encouragement, our consolation] is abundant through Christ [it is truly more than enough to endure what we must]. |
Subject: 2 Corinthians- What is 'suffering' |
Bible Note: Joe Excellent!!! I say that as a Pentecostal that believes in divine healing. The lie that healing is an automatic promise for every Christian is absurd and can only be preached to people in America. Joe you made a good point when you asked, does that mean all the missionaries that left the comfort of their home and died of various diseases lacked faith? Of course the answer was no! We know there are those that say the Christians that die of disease in the Sudan lack faith also. How interesting these Christians in the Sudan have enough faith to confess Jesus at the threat of being hacked to death by a machete, but lack the faith to be healed malaria. How absurd can this teaching get?? Total nonsense that will only sell, as you said, to American couch potato Christians. EdB |
