NASB | 1 Corinthians 15:27 For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET. But when He says, "All things are put in subjection," it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 15:27 For HE (the Father) HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS (Christ's) FEET. But when He says, "All things have been put in subjection [under Christ]," it is clear that He (the Father) who put all things in subjection to Him (Christ) is excepted [since the Father is not in subjection to His own Son]. Bible Note: Hello, Ray! It's always good to visit with you here on ye olde forum. I pray that you are doing well. One of the delights about your posts, bon ami, is that they are laced with love, not traced with vitriol.... To your fine list of things that one can respect the Jehovah's Witnesses for, I would add their relentless zeal and industry. How many Baptists (ouch, that's me) or Presbyterians or Methodists do we see going from door to door, in good weather and bad, in an effort to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ? And what would happen, do you suppose, if they did? I rather expect it would be a boom time for carpenters, don't you? -- building new and bigger houses of worship to accomodate the crowds of new believers..... As for dusty, musty old bookstores, one never knows what serendipity may befall the one who incessantly prowls around among their wares. You struck upon the NASB in your quest and I once found a signed copy of President Truman's "Memoirs" at a garage sale for a couple of dollars. One of the joyous by-products of visiting my son and his family in Portland, Oregon is the opportunity to visit Powell's City of Books, advertised to be the world's largest bookstore. --Hank |
