Subject: The ransom - God or man? |
Bible Note: Greetings Alien Resident! I'm just very cautious my friend about things that are 'supposed' to be stated in the Bible but aren't! :-) An yes, we all can fall prey to this dangerous practice. That is why I try very carefully to couch my statements in such a way that they only say what Scripture actually says. So, let's look at some of the verses you cite in this post. 1) Ex. 21:30: This passage concerns the civil laws of the Mosaic Law. It may or may not be applicable to God Himself. 2) Ps. 49:7-8: This verse I would actually say proves that God Himself would have to pay the ransom. This passage quite clearly says, 'No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him'. The verse doesn't say no 'imperfect' man. It just says, 'no man'. 3) Rom. 5:14: This verse doesn't say that Christ was like Adam. It says that Adam was a 'type' of the one to come. Heb. 8:5 uses the same word of the santuary, but clearly states that the 'type' is only a 'shadow' of the reality. So, the 'type' is a foreshadowing of the reality. Thus, Rom. 5:14 is not saying that Jesus was exactly like Adam, but that Adam was an imperfect foreshadowing of Christ. Thus, I still haven't seen any clear statements that the ransom had to be just like Adam. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
