NASB | 1 Corinthians 14:5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:5 Now I wish that all of you spoke in unknown tongues, but even more [I wish] that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater [and more useful] than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he translates or explains [what he says], so that the church may be edified [instructed, improved, strengthened]. |

Bible Note: Bradk My objection is not over debate of differing theological positions. It is how one characterized a theological position they disagree with. Stating you disagree is far different than mocking another's position. This isn't open obvious mocking it is done in a less than obvious way. Sometimes through a quote, sometimes through definition, sometimes in terms only those that hold the differing theology would pick up on. But it is mocking. To mock a position in such a way is an attempt to provoke and that is against forum guideline. Once the provocation is accomplished it becomes a very short path to have the person excluded from the forum I have no objection to anyone presenting their theological postion I do object to the presentation of a theological position as the only position someone of reasonable intelligence would hold. Or that others that hold a differing position are to be treated as second class citizens of this forum. I have witnessed people that hold theological postions that differ from some others being talked over, being made to look illiterate and having their their posts deleted as inapporpriate. That is wrong. And it is commonly done by one that denies he doing any thing of the sort. As to objections with others yes there is one person with a high intellect but caught up in arrogance has managed to accomplish the championing of his theological position at the cost of others. To give such an unopposed soap box to such a person to continue doing this seems unfair to me. I was a charter member of this forum and at the time I left there was an almost equal representation of various theological positions. We had people posting regularly from nearly every denomination Protestant and Catholic. Today I don't see any of those people here. When I asked them why they all cited the same thing. They were made to feel minimalized by particular people on this forum. That is wrong |
