NASB | 1 Corinthians 14:5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:5 Now I wish that all of you spoke in unknown tongues, but even more [I wish] that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater [and more useful] than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he translates or explains [what he says], so that the church may be edified [instructed, improved, strengthened]. |
Subject: Why no prophets anymore? |
Bible Note: Understand Nathan the comment added to verse10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away "the Perfect being the word. ( Jesus was perfect and he was the word) So all spiritual gifts ceased at that time. As far as the last prophet goes I don't have a clue. Only Prophets now are false prophets." Is the teaching of theological school known as cessationist. That teaching is not universal to Christianity and in fact stands in direct opposition of many theologies. I find it objectionable that is presented here as fact and I believe as such violates forum guidelines. |
