NASB | 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one [Holy] Spirit we were all baptized into one body, [spiritually transformed--united together] whether Jews or Greeks (Gentiles), slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit [since the same Holy Spirit fills each life]. Bible Question:
Matthew 3:11 says, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:" The baptism of the Holy Ghost and the indwelling of the Holy Ghost appear to be two different events that a true believer experiences. Can anyone explain? (Please, no theological references, only respond with what the Holy Ghost, Himself, has revealed - John 14:26) Thanks in advance, WalkingTalkingBible |
Bible Answer: In the upper room on the day of pentecost Jesus baptised them with the Holy Ghost. From that point on, they had the Holy Ghost indwelling in them. That is what still happens today. But, there are those who disagree. That is what happened to me. |
